Queensland Foster and Kinship Care (QFKC) is dedicated to supporting foster and kinship carers across Queensland. Our Returning Carer Program facilitates the re-engagement of former carers, ensuring they are well-prepared to resume their vital roles in providing safe and nurturing environments for children in need.
Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced Assessor to conduct assessments for individuals returning to the foster and kinship caring role. This role involves assessing applicants' readiness and suitability to provide care, ensuring compliance with current Qld Legislation and Policy requirements. This is a Statewide program so the ability to travel will be essential
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of returning carer applicants, considering previous experiences and current circumstances.
Compile detailed assessment reports in accordance with Queensland legislation and policy requirements
Liaise with applicants, providing guidance and clarification throughout the assessment process.
Collaborate with QFKC staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of assessments.
Essential Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in conducting assessments and report writing, preferably within the child protection or community services sector.
Strong understanding of foster and kinship care frameworks and standards in Queensland.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Desirable Criteria:
Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Previous experience working with foster or kinship carers.

Retention and Development Officer – Brisbane/Moreton, Sunshine Coast and Central Region – Contract Position

About QFKC: Queensland Foster and Kinship Care (QFKC) is a Not for Profit, Charitable Peak Child Protection organisation established since 1976. We provide services to Foster and Kinship carers and their support services throughout Queensland with our head office in Brisbane.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and professional Retention and Development Officer to join our team. This role involves working collaboratively with Foster and Kinship Carers, Child Safety and Foster and Kinship Care Agency staff, to enhance the practice and support provided to carers throughout the two regions to aid the retention of carers. The successful candidate will ensure that local, regional, and state-wide initiatives are effectively implemented and that any gaps in service delivery are addressed in a collegial manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide professional responses and support to Foster and Kinship Carer groups as required.
Offer systems advice and support to Foster and Kinship Carer groups, CSSCs, and Foster and Kinship Care Services.
Coordination of the Carer reference group and QFKC support team members in regions.
Identify, develop, and facilitate training for Care Team members.
Prepare local and regional written materials for carers and staff.
Assist in drafting responses to departmental papers or submissions.
Participate in QFKC activities such as conferences and dinners.
Gather information from the carer community and Child Protection sector to support targeted work.
Liaise with carers, CSSC staff, and non-Government Foster and Kinship Care services.
Provide timely advice to the Team Leader on various issues.
Represent QFKC in broader stakeholder meetings and working parties.
Employment Conditions:
Reports directly to the Team Leader.
Requires a current Positive Prescribed Notice (Blue Card) and a current Open C License or P Plate License.
Position is in accordance with SCHADS level 4 + private use of vehicle + 9 day fortnight + NFP salary packaging.
Key Selection Criteria:
Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in the Human Services field.
Knowledge and experience in the Child Protection Act 1999 and associated regulations.
Experience working with Foster and Kinship Carers or other volunteers.
Experience in the development and facilitation of training.
Knowledge of the Family Based Care sector in Queensland.
Ability to work with teams and independently.
